ABC's "Kids with Vision" Contest Winner!

Over 80% of a child’s learning is through his/her eyes. ABC Vision Source has a history of promoting Kids Visual Health since 1975. Our office is an American Optometric Association “Infant See provider” for vision screenings of babies between the ages of 6months and 1 1/2 years of age, offers free preschool screenings for children under 5 years of age, and Vision Therapy Services on Mondays for children with reading and eye teaming difficulties.  ABC Vision Source also works with the local Lions Club and the KEX kids fund to provide services to Children in need.

Supporting the community (thinking Global and acting Local) is a part of our focus at ABC Vision Source.  “We at ABC Vision Source feel strongly that good vision is fundamental to the learning process for children. In an effort to continue to give back to the community and focus on the principles of Vision and Education we have begun a yearly program called “Kids with Vision,”” says Dr. Ward. The "Kids with Vision" program is an annual program created by our doctors in an effort to give kids the tools that are essential for learning.  “We thought that a laptop would be a great way to help a student heading back to school."

This year, ABC Vision Source held a contest and raffled off a free laptop with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Student software (plus a back pack). Over 200 families registered to win the laptop and Alicia Doty of Sherwood was the lucky winner of this year’s “Kids with Vision” program! Alicia is a senior attending Sherwood High School and was extremely excited and thankful for her laptop and software. We were overjoyed to be able to give back to an intelligent young mind such as Alicia, who will be able to use the laptop and provided software to excel in classes and help in her continued steps towards success.

“Kids with Vision” will continue to be a standard yearly community program for ABC Vision Source and one of the ways we will regularly support the Sherwood community and its residents.  “Kids with Vision” will always have a focus on the Vision and Education of Sherwood Children.  “We think it is a great program to support the families and future of Sherwood, Oregon” says Dr. Mari Ward.
